Our elegant personality. Chianti Classico Riserva is the most essential expression of our land. Slender, elongated and straight, as gentle as its homeland and with beautifully amalgamated acidity and tannins which convey all the freshness of Tuscany.
Grape variety
Sangiovese 100%.
Vine training system
Spurred cordon.
Location
Chianti Classico Riserva Massi del Colombaio is born from a selection of grapes from estate-owned vineyards in Loc. Cornia, Montelodoli and Vinci, ranging in altitude from 280 to 480 metres above sea level.
Soil
The three types of soil that make up this wine have been united since their formation, originating from the Chianti massif, by a high level of compact limestone stoniness resting on a sandstone base. This type of soil restrains the vigour of the plant, lengthens the vegetative cycle and enhances the structure of Chianti.
Exposure
South, South-West.
Harvest
From Mid-September to mid-October.
Vinification and ageing
The grapes, harvested separately by variety and exclusively by hand into small crates, are destemmed and vinified in stainless steel tanks where they undergo temperature-controlled fermentation at 24°C-26° C, with maceration on skins for 14-16 days. Ageing takes place in large oak barrels, with percentages of wine aged in barriques, where the wine spends 24 months.
Tasting notes
Ruby red colour, intense notes of red fruits, cherries and currants stand out in the nose, with floral scents of violet and vanilla. It enters the palate soft and sweet, but with a pleasantly crisp sensation. Elegant and balanced tannin. Lingering and persistent wine.
